Works for Me Wednesday: Post-Easter Chocolate
When your delighted eyes behold the heavily discounted post-Easter and Halloween chocolates in the grocery stores, consider this, O Reader:
- Those mini O Henry bars are lovely when chopped roughly and used in place of chocolate chips in C.C.Cookies
- If you, like me, happen to find some solid 60% cocoa, pure dark chocolate bunnies and (most bizarrely) roosters for 79 cents each, you could do as I did and chop those bad boys up to make a wicked perfect chocolate cake
- The day after Halloween, I found big bags of those individual Smartie boxes for 25 cents. I bought about fifteen bags, then paid my children one Smartie* for every little box they ripped open. For less than $4, I ended up with a huge Tupperware container full of Smarties, which were used in cookies, to decorate gingerbread houses, etc.
- Now, look, the chocolate has to be of decent quality -- don't bother with the cheap waxy crap.
