Randomness: #4 of 7

Each of the children in my family took piano lessons. One fateful day, my father looked at the three eager little faces around the dinner table and extravagantly stated, "If any of you makes it to grade 10, I will buy you a grand piano."

To their later regret, my older siblings went on to pursue other interests. But as for me, I was enough of a social reject to be able to spend 3+ hours practicing each day. Ding dong! My fantastic dad kept his promise (what a guy), and my mom and I went shopping when I was about 16. We came home with Johann, a 1990 Yamaha G2 5'7" grand piano.

Thanks, Dad!

'...later regret...', how true. You could add "lasting regret" as well.

I never even got my red leather boots for Ukranian dance....
